Throughout the past two years, the Park City and Summit County Community has set ambitious environmental and climate goals.
Park City Chamber Bureau – Member Survey Results:
The Park City Chamber Bureau took a survey among 177 chamber members in the Spring of 2021, and learned the following with the percentage of survey respondents who ranked it either as “important” or “very important”.
- Green/Recycling Initiatives (77%)
- Sustainable Tourism (76%)
- State and Local Regulations (76%)
- Climate Change (74%)
Park City Municipal – North America’s Most Ambitious Climate Goals
Park City has made North America’s most ambitious climate goals: to be net-zero carbon and run on 100% renewable electricity for city operations by 2022, and for the whole community by 2030. These goals, passed unanimously by City Council with strong community support, are not just aspirational but achievable.
Park City also set up a plan for Vision by 2020, with strong interest in working towards a Net Zero Economy.
Summit County Council – 2019 Sustainability Goals
In support of Summit County Council’s mission to provide excellent, ethical and efficient services that ensure quality of life for present and future generations, the Sustainability staff is working with residents, municipalities and stakeholders to accomplish the following goals: Reduce greenhouse gas emissions of county operations 80% below 2016 level by 2040; 80% below 2014 level countywide; Transition to net 100% renewable electrical energy for county operations and make renewable energy readily available and broadly adopted county wide by 2032.
Transition 50% of county fleet vehicles to alternative fuels, hybrid or electric vehicles by 2022; Provide electric vehicle charging infrastructure as required to charge fleet vehicles.
