Green Tip February 2019
KW Park City Keller Williams Realtors are going GREEN. According to KW “Green” Chair Hong McDonald, “Culture is very important at our brokerage, we believe strongly in caring for our local community and planet.” Keller Williams PC has served the Wasatch Back for 15 years and is excited to join the Green Business program with full commitment at their two locations.
KW Park City is working hard to both reduce consumption and purchase most of their paper with post-consumer recycled content – they have already reduced usage by 25% in one year. They have also replaced all bulbs in their offices with LED fixtures, generating annual savings in 2018 of $1,500+ while also reducing their carbon footprint. Well-labeled recycling bins are available to staff and associates and reusables verses disposables are always encouraged for staff meetings. Paper coffee cups have almost been eliminated as have plastic stir sticks!
KW Park City retained a local landscaping company this past summer that worked hard to reduce irrigation water use, resulting in savings of 60% of the prior year’s volume. KW has also decreased electric and natural gas usage 23% simply by carefully programming automatic thermostats each season.
“Future goals include communicating sustainable successes to our associates and clients, encouraging them to look for ways to reduce their personal carbon footprint,” concluded Ms. McDonald. KW Park City lives their mission, values and beliefs through trusting relationships and now sustainable commitment. Recycle Utah is thrilled to have them join the program!
