Building a Soda Bottle Bioreactor
Building a soda bottle bioreactor is an excellent way to allow students to research various parameters of composting. Students will compare moisture content and nutrient ratios in their own homemade bioreactor. Teachers will need to provide some background information on the importance of composting. Teachers can chose how to use the data. It can be a simple observation based activity or data can be compared and charted over a long period of time. Students will enjoy building the apparatus and will think about the impact our current waste removal system has on soils.
